# Virtual Mailbox for Agents

> Live today: use an existing mailing address so postal mail can return to the workflow as forwarded scans, PDFs, photos, and notes. Mailbox.bot-issued physical receiving addresses and associated package receiving are **Not live yet · Launch ETA: mid/late September.** Reservations are open, but a reservation does not create an address, assign a PMB, or activate custody.

## Physical inbound custody

Managed physical custody is **Not live yet · Launch ETA: mid/late September.** After launch, it will be available only to accounts with approved receiving enrollment, postal authorization, facility assignment, and an assigned PMB. It will be live-credential-only and REST-only: use `/v1/inbound-items` for physical letters, flats, and parcels after assignment, while `/v1/inbound` remains live for forwarded digital/OCR context. The only callable physical action will be `open_and_scan`.

## What it does

- Keep using a business address, PO box, office, home address, or virtual mailbox
- Forward envelope photos, opened-mail photos, scan PDFs, provider notices, and notes to mailbox.bot
- Store inbound mail context beside outbound postal mail activity
- Route scanned mail and approvals back into software

## Best fit

Start here when the workflow needs the physical mail you already receive to become agent-readable context instead of treating mail as a one-way send.

## Why this matters

Without inbound capture, postal mail is still a dead end. mailbox.bot lets reply mail, notices, and business documents re-enter the same system as scans, machine-readable events, and approvals without requiring a new mailbox address by default.
